My note cards include bits of handwoven fabric. Occasionally the fabric is designed and woven specifically for use in cards, but more often it’s woven at the end of a warp or leftovers from a sewing project.
Janis Thompson from dyelots! and Eugene Textile Center teaches short workshops in Nantucket rug hooking in which the in-class project is a small brooch called a Happy Dot. She encourages students to go forth and make and sell more Happy Dots, They’re particularly fun to make from odd bits of leftover handwoven yarns.
Felted juggling balls
I’m a juggler and was once challenged to come up with felted juggling balls. Regular felt balls are too light to work well for juggling, so mine are built around rounded river rocks. Someday I’ll improve the technique to make them more practical, but for now they’re acceptable for occasional gentle juggling.
