Blithe Jensen

At a young age Blithe Jensen learned to crochet, knit, sew and make punch-needle rugs. She taught herself to spin using a drop spindle and later graduated to a spinning wheel. She has been weaving on floor looms of various sizes and styles since 1985. Basketry, sewing, weaving, knitting and other textile techniques play a big part in the “fabric” of her life.

Blithe has long been active in Portland Handweavers Guild and the Larch Mountain Country Artisans and participates in sales for both. She strives to produce affordable, practical items to be used on a regular basis, rather than “special occasion” pieces. Her fun is in creating with color, fiber, texture and pattern, then seeing things find a good home. Her current inventory includes kitchen towels, mug rugs (coasters), felt balls/dryer balls, mini-baskets, and bead-knitted neck pouches. Many items are one-of-a-kind.

To contact Blithe, leave a message at 503-568-6999 or email her at blithej@hotmail.com and reference PHG or GOTG in the subject line. She would be happy to meet you in a convenient location in the Portland area if you’d like to see her work.

Towels are cotton, about 18″x30″, and the price is $22 each. All striped towels are one of a kind.
