One of my dabblings is knitting. I’m not particularly good at it but haven’t bothered putting in the time to get good at it. I can make scarves, hats, and socks, and so when I heard about the Pussyhat Project to provide pink hats with cat ears to participants in the January 21, 2017 Women’s March on Washington I got obsessed with knitting for awhile.
The first hat, not shown here, is for me to wear in the Portland march.
The next four hats were knit using worsted weight Cascade 220 superwash wool. I learned to knit stripes while working on them.
I’m a slow knitter and decided to try bulky yarn, specifically Cascade ECO+. The 250 gram hank was enough for five hats, and maybe I’ll get around to the fifth one eventually. There’s nothing particularly creative about these, but they’ll keep heads warm.
These eight hats have been delivered to Fiber Rhythm, which has been collecting hats to send to Washington, D.C. Dawn was planning to send them today (January 11); I hope the snow didn’t prevent that!
